I have an opportunity to possibly host a 1-hour/week radio show for about 12 weeks at my school....the format I am hoping to bring would be 90's Punk, but failing that, (Ska & Pop-)Punk in general. According to can-con standards, 35% of the music I play per hour must be Canadian. So...here I go trying to compile good Canadian punk bands: any help would be wicked appreciated...like seriously. Please pipe in. Also, listing a couple great (non-swearing) songs from each band you suggest would be awesome
I know. Punk without swearing. I'm trying to get the show though so I gotta follow the rules
Belvedere Comeback Kid Flatliners ...illScarlett.. Propagandhi Real McKenzies This is a Standoff
It's a bummer that 35% has to be Canadian because these above bands are gonna get hella air-play unless I can come up with some more

hey I'm 22 Lag, took 4 years off school now I'm back. I prefer the bands to be good lol but Gob fits in. Sum 41 SORT OF does -- maybe something off DTLI will make it on.... DOA and SNFU are good ones, I have little knowledge of them but I hear they are great from everyone. Pete I am in a program called "Broadcasting - Radio, Television, and Film Production." 3 year course, every year you drop one of the 3 until you eventually have a major. Probably doing Film but Radio is really fun for the time being. It uses Adobe Audition (aka what I've been using for almost 10 years) so I have amazing marks. I want to do the radio show mostly because it would look awesome on a resume I think....plus how cool would it be to say you hosted your own radio show. Gotta at least apply!

is the radio show just broadcasted within your school? the school i went to had a broadcasting program too where each student go to host their own format for a month or something. maybe you should try an easier format. like punk in general. 90s punk will be tough because of the canadian thing

Pretty sure the first song I'd play would be Know It All lol I think I'll have to scrap 90's punk and just go with punk...the real task is going through all these bands to find radio friendly songs by the weekend. Proving I can voice this show is a big thing, I have amazing marks for editing but my v/o work is kinda shady....I have to make a demo CD for a 5 minute preview of the show and nail it. "The Happy Punktime Hour" (working title) this is all between writing TV Pilot scripts and editing short films...and having tests/quizzes/practicals every day. I hope I have the motivation to make the application look good

heh, i recorded a sweet radio ad for nofx's never trust a hippie ep when it came out. no idea why that project was part of the audio production program since it was more of a radio thing. still fun though to use my fake jerkoff radio voice

application sent off - thanks eveeeeryyyone for your help. Most of my favourite punk is not canadian so knowing a few key bands helped alot. not sure what my chances look like -- in all honesty i'd judge them slim. my writing sucked but editing and surprisingly my voicing was good. but writing is huge...so...we'll see. thanks again. ps stef -- chixdiggit -- highlight of the post thanks man

muahaha I got it folks. Out of the applications they got, apparently they said mine was their first choice. They're airing my "demo" promo already because it's better than some of the promos already on the schedule. The Happy Punk-Time Variety Hour on 90.1 FM.....The Heat
